Job summary

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, seeks a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Illinois structural team.

You will design and analyze steel, concrete, timber, and masonry buildings and bridges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, innovative solutions. This role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, 15+ years of experience, and strong client communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
15+ years of experience in the design of bridge and/or buildings
Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles
Ability to communicate with clients with excellent written and verbal skills

Responsibilities

Design and analyze steel, concrete, timber, and masonry buildings and bridges
Prepare structural calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports
Perform structural inspections and condition assessments
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies
Review construction submittals and respond to field questions
Participate in project planning, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, AASHTO, IDOT, and industry standards
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence
