Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Illinois structural team. Lead design and analysis for bridges and buildings, guiding projects from concept through construction, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will review calculations, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with codes, delivering safe and innovative engineering solutions. This role emphasizes client communication and technical excellence within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in design of bridges and/or buildings.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze steel, concrete, timber, and masonry buildings and bridges.
• Prepare structural calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
• Perform structural inspections and condition assessments.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies.
• Review construction submittals and respond to field questions.
• Participate in project planning, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes and industry standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical excellence.
