Job summary

Kleinfelder Inc seeks a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Illinois team. You will design and analyze steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions.

Your experience will guide project planning, code compliance, and client communication. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical excellence, and work on bridges and buildings, within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that values

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
15+ years of experience in the design of bridge and/or buildings.
Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
Ability to communicate with clients using excellent written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

Design and analyze steel, concrete, timber, and masonry buildings and bridges.
Prepare structural calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
Perform structural inspections and condition assessments.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies.
Review construction submittals and respond to field questions.
Participate in project planning, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, AASHTO, IDOT, and industry standards.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
