Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Designer to join our Drafting & Design team in a flexible office setup. You will lead BIM-based design for foundations and steel structures, mentor junior designers, and coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure safe, operable, and maintainable designs.

Ideal candidates bring 9+ years in Tekla-based structural design, CAD training, and strong communication skills to support project success across power generation markets.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAD vocational training program and 9+ years of structural design experience using Tekla.
• Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
• Leadership to monitor peers and mentor junior designers.
• Effective communication with team members and multiple disciplines.
• Proficiency with basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design group members to review and exchange project information for design and development.
• Check design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements before submission.
• Report task progress to Lead Designer.
• Gather information and collaborate with engineers and disciplines to develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures.
• Leverage BIM to create plans, drawings, and details.
• Assist in developing department standards and tools.
• Mentor other team members in design and modeling techniques.
• Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineer.
