Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering seeks a Structural Designer to join our team in a multi-office environment. The role focuses on establishing and improving standards, creating BIM models for foundations and steel structures, and mentoring junior designers.

Candidates should have a 2-year CAD-related technical degree and at least 4 years of structural design experience, with Tekla experience preferred. This full-time role offers a competitive compensation and strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a 2-year technical school degree related to Computer Aided Design and a minimum of 4 years of structural design experience.
• Experience or modules in BIM preferred.
• Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
• Demonstrates leadership to monitor peers in drafting and design.
• Basic knowledge of current computer operating systems.
• Effective communication with team members and disciplines.
• Knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and word processing programs.
• Represent Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. professionally with owners, contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design group members to review and exchange project information.
• Check design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements.
• Report task progress to Lead Designer.
• Develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures with engineers and disciplines.
• Create plans, drawings and details using BIM.
• Assist in developing department standards and tools.
• Mentor other team members in design and modeling techniques.
• Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineer.
