Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
• P.E. license.
• 10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience.
• DOT bridge design experience and understanding of DOT guidelines (NCDOT/ODOT/MaineDOT preferred).
• Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and Manual for Bridge Evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
• Coordinate with client staff and project managers, especially in DOT and local governments.
• Provide design services for traditional design-bid-build and design-build bridge projects.
• Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans.
• Coordinate design activities between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling.
• Identify schedule and cost variances and develop corrective action.
• Actively participate and lead in transportation-related professional organizations.
