LJB Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice. This role focuses on structural analysis, design of various bridge types, and coordination across multiple offices.

Ideal candidates bring 5–10 years of bridge/culvert design experience, familiarity with DOT guidelines, and a Civil Engineering degree. PE is a plus with potential credential within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Masters in Civil Engineering.
• PE license is a plus; able to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• 5–10 years of hands-on bridge/culvert design experience.
• Direct experience with DOT bridge design and plan preparation.
• In-depth knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and the Manual for Bridge Evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on structural analysis and design of bridges and related structures.
• Lead bridge projects as the Bridge Task Coordinator, managing schedules and deliverables.
• Provide design and plan production support across different offices.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee quality control for bridge plans.
• Develop technical memorandums, specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations, and reports.
• Contribute to proposals and other business-development activities.
