Job summary

L3Harris is a leading defense technology company located in Wilmington, MA. The Specialist, Mechanical Engineer – Structural Analysis works on complex opto-mechanical systems and precision mechanisms for space/airborne platforms, performing FEA and hand-calculation analyses to ensure structural integrity.

You will interact with customers and cross-functional teams, contribute to PDR/CDR/TIM, and help drive design decisions while supporting relocation and a sign-on bonus up to $15K.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of related experience if no degree.
• 2+ years of structural analysis experience (FEA/hand-calcs).
• Experience with FEA and pre/post processors (Femap with Nastran).
• 2+ years in aerospace systems with a focus on structural/dynamics analysis.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create finite element models of complex components and assemblies for structural analysis.
• Analyze models for stress, strain, displacement, modes at component and assembly levels.
• Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations of analysis results.
• Interface with customers and engineering teams to meet objectives.
• Support PDR/CDR/TIM and program reviews with design details.
• Coordinate with outside suppliers and other disciplines to drive designs to closure.
• Present design details at program reviews to customers and reviewers.
• Support new business opportunities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
