Job summary

Volant Partners in Seattle, WA seeks a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to lead design, analysis, and verification of aerospace hardware. You will perform trade studies, develop loads, size structures, and create validated FEA models (Nastran, Patran, Femap, HyperMesh).

You will collaborate with design, test and manufacturing teams, communicate across disciplines, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with standards and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or related engineering.
• 8–12 years of structural/stress analysis experience.
• Proficiency with FEA software (Nastran, Patran, Femap, HyperMesh).
• Experience with metallic/composite structures and MMPDS/CMH-17 references.

Responsibilities

• Perform trade studies on structural configurations and joints.
• Define external/internal loads; document load paths.
• Size primary/secondary structures for strength and stiffness; MGA analyses.
• Develop, verify and maintain finite element models (Nastran).
• Perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessments; sustain margins of safety.
• Author stress reports and MMS/margin summaries; support design reviews.
