Job summary

Volant Partners is seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to support aerospace and space flight hardware projects. You will perform FEA/Nastran workflows, hand calculations, and margins of safety calculations while collaborating with design, test, and manufacturing teams throughout product development.

The role demands strong communication, ability to work independently, and experience in regulated aerospace environments. On-site work in the greater Seattle area is expected.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of structural/stress analysis experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or related field
• Strong foundation in strength of materials and structural mechanics
• Hands-on FEM/FEA experience with standard tools
• Experience with metallic/composite structures
• Experience reading engineering drawings (GD&T) and requirements
• Fluent English in speaking and writing
• Must be a US Person (US citizen / permanent resident)

Responsibilities

• Perform trade studies on structural configurations and loads.
• Define external/internal loads and load paths.
• Size primary/secondary structure for strength and stiffness; estimate mass.
• Develop/verify/maintain finite element models (e.g., Nastran).
• Perform hand calculations to verify FEM results.
• Conduct fatigue and damage tolerance assessments.
• Author stress analysis reports and margins of safety.
• Support test scope definition and development activities.
• Present findings at reviews and provide status updates.
