Job summary

Radiant is seeking a Stress Engineer in El Segundo, CA to own structural loads, vibration, and dynamic analyses for Kaleidos, a portable microreactor system. You will deliver static, dynamic, and transient load cases and collaborate across nuclear, mechanical, and test teams.

The role requires hands-on expertise in finite element modeling and explicit dynamics, with responsibility for regulatory interfaces and verification planning. Onsite work is required at HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of professional stress, loads, dynamics, or structural analysis experience.
• Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics, dynamics, and vibration.
• Experience with finite element modeling of metallic and composite structures.
• Proficiency with ANSYS, Abaqus, and Nastran for FEA.
• Ability to communicate results clearly to multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop static, dynamic, and transient load cases for reactor systems and transport.
• Perform FEA and dynamic analyses including modal and random vibration.
• Model nonlinear reactor response with explicit dynamics.
• Define transportation and handling environments (road, rail, air, sea).
• Prepare analysis documentation for internal reviews and regulatory interfaces.
• Support test planning and correlation, including shaker tests.
• Collaborate with design teams to influence hardware architecture.
• Contribute to failure investigations and design improvements.
• Establish best practices for loads, dynamics, and verification.
• Maintain traceable analysis reports.
