Job summary

Radiant is seeking a Staff Fluid Systems Engineer in El Segundo, CA to own critical Kaleidos fluid systems from concept to production. You will manage end-to-end design of primary loop subsystems and power conversion loops that transform reactor heat into electricity.

You will perform thermal analyses, component selection, BOM management, supplier development, and risk analysis, while collaborating across engineering teams to ensure safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering discipline.
• Experience with fluid system architecture design.
• 8+ years designing, building, and testing fluid systems.
• Proficient in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
• Proficient in heat exchanger design and analysis methods.
• Knowledge of thermodynamic power cycles (desired).
• Experience with piping design for thermal growth using hand calculations and FEA tools (desired).
• Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and ASME PCC-2 is a plus (desired).
• Proficient in Matlab/Python modeling (desired).
• Experience with manufacturability and ramping hardware in production (desired).
• Strong communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end engineering of fluid systems and components (compressors, valves, heat exchangers).
• Perform thermal and fluids analyses to drive design decisions and verify performance.
• Conduct trade studies to optimize systems per program requirements.
• Develop manufacturing/integration instructions and test plans.
• Create and manage a Bill-Of-Materials (BOM).
• Source and qualify suppliers for components.
• Own subassembly design, manufacturing, and test schedules.
• Lead risk analyses (FMEA) for subsystems.
• Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines.
