Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Stress Engineer to own analyses for Kaleidos portable microreactor hardware. You will perform loads, dynamics, and nonlinear simulations.

Collaborate with structures, mechanical design, thermal, nuclear, and test teams to ensure structural integrity across manufacturing, transport, deployment, and operation.

The role requires onsite work, a hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, with opportunities for growth and substantial equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
• 4+ years in stress, loads, dynamics, or structural analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics, dynamics, and vibration.
• FEA modeling of metallic and composite structures.
• Proficiency with ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran.
• Familiar with design allowables and margin-of-safety concepts.
• Ability to communicate analysis results to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own static, dynamic, and transient loads for reactor systems.
• Perform FEA and dynamic analyses including modal, random vibration, and fatigue.
• Model nonlinear responses with explicit dynamics for seismic events.
• Define transport and handling environments and load cases.
• Prepare analysis documentation and verification plans.
• Support test planning, shaker tests, and regulatory interfaces.
• Collaborate with design teams on hardware and joint designs.
