Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Senior Engineer for Storage's Distributed Caching team in the New York metro area in a hybrid role. You will work on Boulder and ElastiCache-backed services, including the Distributed Lock Service, to support DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo at scale with cost discipline.

You will own caching, build self-serve tooling and observability, handle cache invalidation, replication, sharding, and guardrails, and collaborate with Taulu, ML Platform, and product teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full-time experience designing, building, and operating distributed, stateful systems.
• Proficient in Go, or Java/Kotlin with concurrency and distributed systems expertise.
• Hands-on experience with distributed caching technologies (Redis/Valkey, Memcached) and their failure modes.
• Understanding of consistency models, sharding, replication, and consensus.
• Experience with capacity planning and cost discipline at scale.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools in the full software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Own high-leverage caching and locking services with measurable customer impact.
• Scale Boulder, including compaction, sharding, and domain isolation.
• Re-platform the Distributed Lock Service onto a strongly consistent backend.
• Contribute to a standardized smart caching client with failover and observability.
• Diagnose production issues and turn fixes into durable guardrails.
• Collaborate with teams across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.
