Job summary

xAI is seeking storage and database engineers for a project building an exabyte-scale, high‑performance platform used by hundreds of millions of users monthly. You will design and deploy storage features across multiple systems, focusing on latency, durability, and reliability while collaborating with a small, hands‑on team.

With 7+ years in software development and 2+ years in storage, you will mentor peers, review designs, and adapt to new technologies as the project scales.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience and 2+ years in storage systems or databases.
• Obsessed with reliability, performance, and quality.
• Proficient in C++, Rust, or JVM-based languages.
• Experience building, running, and operating scalable distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and launch new storage features across systems.
• Address latency, availability, and data durability with customers.
• Lead incident responses and postmortems with peer teams.
• Mentor peers through code and design reviews.
• Learn on the job as we explore new technologies.
