Job summary

HM Insurance Group seeks an experienced underwriting leader to manage a block of stop-loss business within a multi-disciplinary team. You will price renewals, analyze risk, and support sales with creative case-level solutions, while mentoring junior staff.

This office-based role requires 10–15 years in underwriting and a strong actuarial/finance background; CEBS/HIA/MHP and related certifications are a plus. Travel is 0–25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration/Management or Computer and Information Science; substitutions allow 6 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 10–15 years of underwriting experience.
• CEBS, HIA, MHP or SOA certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business within an assigned block to drive P/L and renewals.
• Collaborate with Sales, Underwriting, and Clinical teams to implement pricing actions.
• Train and coach lower level staff to expand consultative best practices.
• Develop and implement enhanced underwriting guidelines and tools.
• Monitor block performance and report financial trends; develop strategies to meet targets.
• Support Sales negotiations to renew existing clients and enroll new business.
• Other duties as assigned.
