Job summary

Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego is seeking an Executive Steward to lead the stewarding department, train staff, and ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation across kitchens and related areas. You will coordinate schedules, payroll, and supplier interactions while mentoring the team and maintaining regulatory compliance.

The role requires hands-on leadership, weekend/holiday availability, and incumbent San Diego certifications; the hotel offers career advancement and comprehensive

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of progressive stewarding leadership experience and/or training, preferably in high-volume banquet, hotel, or resort environments.
• Experience running a shift, scheduling, performance management, problem-solving, running day-to-day operations, hospitality & customer service skills.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• San Diego County Food Handler certification required; Evans Hotels will provide training at the company’s expense.
• RBS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conveys a favorable image of the organization by projecting a positive, professional appearance and demeanor to guests and associates.
• Coordinates all administrative activities of the department, including schedules, payroll maintenance, evaluations, recruiting, sanitation record keeping, orientation, pest control, supervision, staffing and meetings.
• Maintains highest possible level of cleanliness and sanitation in kitchens and related areas as prescribed by Health Dept., EcoSure and hotel standards.
• Assists in budget preparation and forecasts; supports adherence to budgets.
• Sets up training programs to ensure departmental standards are consistently met or exceeded.
• Instructs stewarding personnel in safety and emergency procedures; acts as a hands-on mentor when possible.
• Liaises with other departments to guarantee quality of services; supervises inventory and distribution of china, glassware and flatware.
