Job summary

Cherubini Group of Companies seeks an experienced steel projects estimator to join our team, forecast project costs, and support profitable execution. This role focuses on estimating labour, materials, and general expenses for complex steel/bridges projects.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, preparing master and elemental format estimates, pre-qualification submissions, and assisting in tendering processes to ensure competitive bids and accurate cost control.

Qualifications

• A minimum of three years experience in estimation/project management in the construction industry (preference given to those with experience in custom steel/bridges/structural work).
• Undergraduate degree in engineering or post-secondary diploma in a construction related discipline is considered an asset.
• General civil construction knowledge; understanding of plans, specifications, methods and procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of the principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures, sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
• Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present clients
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Prepare master format estimates (Class A)
• Prepare elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D)
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems
• Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
• Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
• Project cash flow and financing requirements
• Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms
• Utilize quantity take-off procedures
• Advise on tendering procedures
• Analyze tenders and recommend awards
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
• Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
• Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
