Job description

This role is based in an office and reports directly to the Chief Estimator. You will prepare cost estimates for structural steel components and manage the full estimation process.

Responsibilities

• Measure and calculate materials needed for construction of structural steel components.
• Create documents that support the preparation of complete estimates.
• Check quotes from vendors and subcontractors to ensure they meet contract requirements.
• Create summaries of estimates that highlight basic and special requirements for the work, including items to be purchased from suppliers.
• Assist in training less experienced estimators.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of experience in the structural steel industry in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of how steel is made and how it is assembled in construction.
• Experience working in construction.

Preferred

• Strong experience reviewing contract drawings and specifications related to structural steel.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with programs such as Bluebeam, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field (preferred but not required).
