Job summary

Schuff Steel is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, detail-oriented estimates for complex steel projects. You will collaborate with fabrication, purchasing, field erection, pre-construction, sub-fabrication and third-party vendors to produce bids that are ready for execution by our Pre-Construction team.

You will review blueprints and specifications, perform material and labor takeoffs, and prepare comprehensive price estimates.

Qualifications

Extensive experience estimating structural steel and heavy plate projects.
Proficient in estimating software and job cost accounting concepts.
Strong numerical and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
Excellent written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Review blueprints, specs, and documentation to prepare estimates.
Collaborate on how to build the job in fabrication and erection.
Prepare detailed estimates for new projects and change orders.
Take off steel materials, labor, field erection, buyout items and equipment costs.
Enter takeoffs and drawings in the in-house system.
Read bid instructions and summarize price estimates accurately.
Coordinate with Sales and Pre-construction on scope and timelines.
Follow Schuff estimating guidelines and procedures.
Present results to leadership and discuss alternatives when needed.
Interact professionally with team members.
