Job summary

MetLife is seeking a claims owner on the Global Customer Service and Operations team to administer Short Term Disability claims and related leaves. You will assess functional capacity, coordinate with stakeholders, and support return-to-work efforts within policy guidelines.

The role emphasizes proactive claimant communication, collaboration with specialists, and handling a variety of customers based on staffing needs. A minimum of 1 year STD experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding disability contracts, especially definition of disability and leaves.
• Strong interview skills to set claimant expectations and gather info.
• Basic knowledge of medical conditions, treatments, and prognosis.
• Ability to balance quantity and quality with strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level service to claimants, with timely communication and clear updates.
• Apply provisions of disability contracts and guidelines to support return-to-work goals.
• Proactively communicate status and set expectations with claimants and other resources.
• Collaborate with claimant, resources, and teams to create an appropriate plan per case.
• Manage assigned claims, prioritize actions and make timely decisions.
