Job summary

MetLife’s Global Customer Service and Operations (GCSO) team seeks a Short Term Disability Claim Specialist to review and assess disability claims. You will examine medical documentation, converse with claimants by phone, and manage a caseload to determine payability, ensuring strong communication and adherence to policies.

You will partner with specialists to develop a clear plan for each claimant, prioritizing actions and delivering accurate decisions while maintaining a high level of service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Understanding of disability contractual provisions, especially the definition of disability.
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate clearly to claimants.
• Critical-thinking, strategic-thinking, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to give and receive feedback using specific measurements and observed behavior.

Responsibilities

• Applies disability contract provisions to assess liability and supports return-to-work programs.
• Communicates with claimants to set expectations and update on status of claims.
• Collaborates with specialists to ensure a clear, appropriate plan for each claimant.
• Manages a block of assigned claims, prioritizes actions, and makes timely claim decisions.
• Delivers high-quality service, timely callbacks, and clear communications to claimants.
