Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join a leading medical technology organization onsite in Durham, NC. The role leads development and lifecycle management of advanced pharmacy automation products, driving systems engineering across electromechanical and robotic solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities include leading system requirements, architecture, risk assessments (FMEA), V&V, cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of systems engineering experience with electromechanical and robotic products.
• Full lifecycle experience from concept to post-market support.
• Knowledge of risk management methodologies, FMEA, and hazard analysis.
• Experience with verification and validation activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle from concept development to post-market support.
• Define and maintain system requirements, architecture, and design specifications.
• Conduct system-level risk assessments, FMEA, and hazard analyses.
• Develop and execute verification and validation plans to ensure product performance and quality.
• Partner with software, hardware, and cross-functional engineering teams to support product development and integration.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues using root cause analysis techniques.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and tools.
