Job summary

Early Warning Services, LLC is seeking a Senior Staff Site Reliability Engineer to apply software and systems engineering practices to improve the reliability, resilience, scalability, and operational health of production services.

The role partners with Software Engineering and other technology teams to ensure reliability, observability, recoverability, performance, and operational readiness are engineered into systems throughout their lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Typically 12+ years of relevant professional experience in software/SRE.
• Experience with software engineering principles, distributed systems, production troubleshooting, automation, and observability.
• Experience with public cloud technologies and architectures, preferably AWS, with Linux/Unix and modern app architectures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Use software engineering, automation, and DevOps practices to improve how services are built, deployed, observed, operated, and recovered.
• Identify reliability risks using data, experimentation, and engineering analysis.
• Define and improve SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and service-health metrics.
• Enhance observability through metrics, logs, traces, monitoring, and dashboards.
• Lead CI/CD, IaC, automation, incident response, and capacity planning improvements.
• Translate operational experience into code, tooling, and architecture improvements.
• Collaborate with Software Engineering to incorporate reliability, resiliency, and performance throughout development lifecycle.
• Participate in or lead incident response, troubleshooting, and blameless post-incident reviews.
• Provide senior technical leadership and escalation support for major incidents and on-call practices across a pillar.
