Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Uber Tech Lead) for Identity & Access Management to unify human, AI agent, service, and workload identity across a large distributed system. You will set architecture and drive adoption across hundreds of engineering teams, aligning with security and regulatory requirements.

Lead the data model and tooling for access governance, mentor engineers, and help grow the IAM domain.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering with senior platform leadership.
• IAM expertise across workforce, authorization, or non-human identity.
• Go production experience and distributed systems on AWS.
• Influence across multiple teams and secure leadership alignment.
• Ability to translate audit/regulatory requirements into automated controls.
• Experience with generative AI applied to enterprise workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-year IAM technical strategy end-to-end.
• Drive architecture decisions across pods and teams.
• Build adoption strategy for 700+ systems with migration paths.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, IT to translate requirements.
• Lead data model and tooling to track access across estate.
• Mentor staff engineers to grow identity domain depth.
