Reddit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead its next-generation user understanding initiative. You will design and implement a unified user representation across Feeds, Search, Notifications, and Ads, leveraging embeddings, LLMs, and foundation models at global scale.

You will mentor senior engineers, set technical direction, and partner with product and infra teams to ensure low-latency, reliable services with measurable impact on engagement and retention.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building production ML systems.
• Experience in user modeling or recommender systems.
• Strong product- and impact-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design a unified user understanding framework and strategy across embeddings, attributes and profiles.
• Lead design and implementation of large-scale user models for multiple Reddit products (Feeds, Notification, Search, Ads).
• Evolve models with LLMs and foundation models for richer user profiles and contextual personalization.
• Build core components for embeddings storage, feature pipelines, and APIs with low latency and high availability.
• Drive cross-team adoption and measurable end-to-end impact on key metrics like engagement and retention.
• Mentor senior engineers, lead design reviews, and enforce engineering best practices.
