Job summary

TSI Incorporated in Minnesota is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering activities on projects, acting as the group expert for design and sourcing, and communicating across engineering, marketing, sales and production.

You will design mechanical portions of electronic instruments, model systems, support 3D printing, test sub-systems, and mentor other engineers while delivering thorough documentation and robust specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or similar field.
• 8+ years of mechanical product development experience.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD software.
• Experience with COMSOL or similar FEA modeling.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods and testing/validation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and develop mechanical portions of instruments.
• Model heating/cooling, fluid flow, aerosols, and optics using FEA.
• Design and support injection molded parts, machined components, and rapid prototyping.
• Understand design tradeoffs for performance, cost and manufacturability.
• Lead design/test cycles and collaborate across teams.
• Prepare documentation and specifications for projects.
