Job summary

CHAOS Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead ruggedized hardware design for dual-use aerospace/defense applications. You will own subsystems, develop architectures, and drive documentation from concept to production while mentoring others.

The role demands hands-on CAD, complex assemblies, structural/thermal analysis, and strong cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, RF, and manufacturing teams. On-site work required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in mechanical design and integration of electronic hardware for aerospace/defense.
• Experience with production-ready drawings and ICDs.
• Familiarity with military/aerospace connectors and GD&T standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of ruggedized mechanical hardware and enclosures.
• Own subsystem mechanical design and ensure alignment with requirements.
• Develop architectures and detailed designs for mechanical systems.
• Create and manage 3D models, drawings, and ICDs for production.
• Perform first-order structural/thermal analyses and hand calculations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional teams.
