Job summary

CHAOS Industries is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and qualify ruggedized sensor systems and avionics for dual-use aerospace and defense applications. You will lead mechanical design, create complex CAD models, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration.

The role is full-time and on-site in El Segundo, CA, requiring strong CAD proficiency, structural/thermal analysis, and familiarity with MIL‑STD‑810 standards. A U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and 7+ years of mechanical design experience in aerospace/defense or similar fields.
• Proven proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks or equivalent) and complex assemblies.
• Experience with production drawings, documentation, interfaces (ICDs) and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on mechanical design and integration of ruggedized hardware and sensor systems.
• Own subsystems or major assemblies, drive trade studies and design reviews.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, ICDs, and installation documentation; perform structural/thermal analyses.
