Job summary
Astronics AES in Kirkland, WA is seeking a Senior or Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Cabin Electronics Product Team on site with optional partial work-from-home depending on project needs.
The role focuses on developing complex power solutions for aircraft cabins, leading technical efforts, coordinating with internal teams, and supporting production and design reviews to ensure performance, cost and schedule targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Senior role requires 5+ years of direct experience; Staff requires 8+ years.
- Experience with CAD modeling and analysis tools; SolidWorks, Flow Simulation preferred.
- Experience with PCB packaging and cooling techniques for electronic equipment.
- Support engineering testing and documentation throughout projects.
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-160 environmental requirements.
- Proficiency with technical documentation practices and PLM tools.
- Project leadership, planning schedules and evaluating cost reductions.
- Strong troubleshooting and collaborative skills.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Development engineering support for new products in the Cabin Electronics line.
- Collaborate with internal engineering resources across disciplines.
- Present material in design reviews and generate technical reports.
- Support ongoing production and review design changes or improvements.
