Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Staff IAM Software Engineer to join the Identity Platform Engineering team. You will own critical IAM integrations, drive end-to-end DevOps foundations, and mentor engineers while delivering secure, scalable identity solutions across the enterprise.

You will shape RBAC/ABAC, lifecycle management, provisioning workflows, and AI-assisted access recommendations, collaborating with security, compliance, and product teams to raise engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong IAM domain experience with Identity Lifecycle, RBAC/ABAC, Privileged Access Management
• Full stack development depth: backend (Java or Python), databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), frontend (JS, HTML/CSS)

Responsibilities

• Participate in all technical aspects of team deliverables including quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability
• Lead CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitLab Runners, Jenkins, Nexus and related tooling
• Implement infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet
• Own system integrations across Identity Platforms and ServiceNow—APIs, connectors, provisioning workflows, lifecycle automation
• Contribute full stack development across backend services and IAM workflows; input on UI design and implementation
• Apply data analytics to identity governance: RBAC role mining, access pattern analysis, entitlement optimization, AI-assisted recommendations
• Design reviews to ensure performance and testability, mentor 4-5 junior to mid engineers
• Partner with security, compliance, and platform teams to deliver secure, scalable, audit-ready solutions
• Explore patterns to improve resilience, developer velocity, and operational maturity
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with principal staff
• Integrate AI into workflows and decision-making where appropriate

About the Team

The Identity Platform Engineering team builds and operates the enterprise Identity and Access Management platform that secures ServiceNow employees, systems, and partners worldwide. We are a team focused on engineering excellence - modernizing how identity governance is built, tested, and delivered.

We manage enterprise-scale Identity Platforms and ServiceNow integrations across global and regulated environments, and we are expanding our capabilities into Non-Human Identity governance and AI-assisted access intelligence.

We are looking for a Senior Staff IAM Software Engineer to bring full stack and systems depth to the team, build our DevOps engineering foundation, own critical platform integrations, and elevate the engineers around them.

What you'll do

• Participate in all technical aspects of team deliverables including quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Lead the development of end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitLab Runners, Jenkins, and Nexus - moving the team from manual to automated, repeatable development and testing workflows.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code and configuration management with Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.
• Own system integrations across Identity Platforms and ServiceNow - APIs, connectors, provisioning workflows, and lifecycle automation.
• Contribute full stack development across backend services and user-facing IAM workflows; provide technical input on UI design and implementation.
• Apply data analytics to identity governance: RBAC role mining, access pattern analysis, entitlement optimization, and AI-assisted access request recommendations.
• Participate in design and code reviews, ensuring best practices in performance, maintainability, and testability.
• Mentor and guide 4-5 junior to mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, engineering craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with security, compliance, and platform teams to deliver solutions that are secure, scalable, and audit-ready.
• Explore and advocate for new patterns that improve system resilience, developer velocity, and operational maturity.
• Partner with principal-level staff to drive initiatives and maintain organizational standards.
• Design and develop scalable, maintainable, and reusable software components with a strong emphasis on performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers and other engineering teams to define frameworks.

• Deep technical hands-on experience building production enterprise-level platforms.
• Strong IAM Domain Experience with Identity Lifecycle, RBAC/ABAC, Access Certifications, and Privileged Access Management
• 10+ years of software engineering experience; 3+ years as a senior staff, or equivalent experience and education.
• Full stack development depth: strong backend proficiency (Java or Python, MySQL or PostgreSQL) and working knowledge of frontend technologies (JavaScript, AngularJS, REST APIs, HTML/CSS).
• Systems engineering experience designing and operating complex, distributed enterprise platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives
• Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows using GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus, JFrog or equivalent tooling.
• Proficiency with infrastructure automation: Terraform, Ansible, and/or Puppet.
• Identity data analytics ability - designing queries, building pipelines, and deriving actionable insights from operational or identity data sets.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and software quality principles including reliability and observability.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives from conception to delivery.
