Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced hardware engineering technician in Santa Clara, CA to support prototype qualification, bring-up, and cross-functional coordination across HW, SW, and manufacturing teams.

The role involves managing prototypes, coordinating rework with contract manufacturers, and ensuring environmental and compliance testing is current. Strong soldering, debugging, and OS/Linux scripting skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support components selection, procurement and qualification during prototype and post-product-launch phases.
• Support product bring-up and qualification.
• Manage prototypes across cross-functional teams and ensure they are at the latest revision.
• Perform basic rework in the lab or coordinate product rework through contract manufacturers and third parties.
• Support environmental and compliance testing and help ensure compliance certification is current.
• Create product-related documentation, including compliance certificates, MTBF and product manuals.
• Support product sustaining by helping create test setups and scripts to triage failures.
• Work with the HW engineering team to introduce leading-edge network security appliances.
• Help coordinate JDM/ODM/OEM projects.

Requirements

• Strong engineering technician with an associate degree and 6-8 years of lab experience, or entry level with a degree in electrical engineering and hands‑on lab experience
• Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines without compromising quality
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including HW, SW and manufacturing
• Willingness to learn and help in any area of product development and bring‑up
