Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States seeks a skilled Electronics Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and validate complex electronic systems for defense and intelligence applications. You will assemble PCBs, perform functional tests with advanced instruments, and work with engineers on prototype builds.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance.
IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications preferred.
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies.
Experience soldering, rework, and assembly of cables, harnesses, and PCBs.
Familiarity with troubleshooting analog and digital circuits.
Awareness of ESD procedures and handling of sensitive electronics.

Job description

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic systems and components
Perform functional testing using oscilloscopes, meters, generators, and other diagnostic tools
Assemble, modify, and rework PCBs, cables, harnesses, and electronic assemblies to specification
Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical instructions
Install, configure, and maintain electronic equipment in bench, lab, and field environments
Document test results, repairs, and configuration changes according to company standards
Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability
Partner with engineers on prototype builds, design updates, and system integration
Follow quality and safety practices, including ESD, IPC, and facility protocols
Identify root-cause failures and support continuous improvement
Maintain a clean, safe, organized workspace
Manage inventory of parts, tools, and test equipment
Calibrate and verify test equipment as required
Support onboarding and training of new technicians
Assemble, modify, diagnose, and refine electronic assemblies, PCBs, cables, and harnesses
Integrate mechanical designs into fully functional products for demanding environments
Contribute to rapid-turn projects from concept to deployment for defense and intelligence customers

Requirements

U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance
Industry certifications such as IPC-A-610 / IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and PCB layouts
Proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies
Experience with soldering, rework, and assembly of cables, harnesses, and PCBs
Familiarity with troubleshooting analog and digital circuits
Knowledge of ESD procedures and safe handling of sensitive electronics
Ability to install, maintain, repair, and test electronic systems or components
Basic computer skills and experience with diagnostic software, firmware updates, or configuration tools
Active Secret or higher SCI security clearance preferred
Experience with battery pack integration preferred
Experience with SMT equipment preferred
Experience with PCB washer preferred
Familiarity with ISO-9001 and AS9100 requirements preferred
Understanding of microcontrollers, sensors, RF systems, or power electronics preferred
Ability and willingness to perform electro-mechanical assembly, operate and repair manufacturing machinery, perform facility maintenance, apply coatings, and operate forklifts as needed
Ability to work in shop, shipboard, warehouse, and industrial environments and use required PPE
