Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced embedded firmware leader in Colorado to own the strategy for electromechanical products. You will define requirements, select engineering partners, and ensure production-ready firmware, electronics, and control software across robotic tools.

You will write and test firmware on real hardware, bring up new boards, and debug with scopes and serial tools. Collaboration with sales and manufacturing teams is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems and C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the in-house technical owner for embedded and electrical 전략.
• Define requirements and manage external engineering partners.
• Deliver production-ready firmware, electronics, and controls.
• Write and improve firmware for hardware.
• Bring up new boards and test firmware on real hardware.
• Debug firmware issues using scopes, logs, and basic test tools.

Job description

• Serve as the in-house technical owner for an outsourced embedded and electrical engineering strategy


• Define requirements and select and manage external engineering partners


• Ensure delivery of production-ready firmware, electronics, controls, and connected-tool platforms for Magswitch electromechanical and robotic products


• Write, revise, and improve firmware for new and existing hardware


• Bring up new boards and test firmware on real hardware


• Debug firmware issues using logs, scopes, and basic test tools


• Work with sensors, motors, I/O, and communication interfaces


• Support firmware testing for prototypes and production units


• Work with the sales team to help debug field issues


• Collaborate with the overseas manufacturing team, including off-hours meetings


• Work with contractors and customers as needed


• Track project timelines and budgets


• Identify and promptly elevate risks to project schedules and budgets to the manager

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field


• Minimum of five years of relevant experience


• Knowledge of embedded systems and programming C/C++


• Experience with motors, actuators, sensor integration, and electrically actuated tool or automation systems


• Ability to write and debug board-level drivers


• Experience with MCU peripherals, including SPI, I2C, ADCs, and GPIO


• Experience with MCU timers, interrupts, and DMA


• Experience debugging firmware using scopes, logic analyzers, and serial tools


• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn


• Effective communication and organizational skills


• Ability to test products hands-on and troubleshoot issues


• Ability to create internal and customer-facing documentation


• Ability to identify and understand relevant regulations and standards documents


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


• International and domestic travel, up to 20%


• Nice to have: ability to create and design electrical circuits, PCBs, and control schematics


• Nice to have: knowledge or ability to program industrial robots and PLCs


• Nice to have: experience with stepper motors and writing stepper motor drivers
