Gusto is hiring seasoned engineers to build and scale core platform capabilities for its Tax product. You will influence feature specs, extend existing systems, and deliver reliable code powering payroll tax experiences for millions of users.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in distributed systems, proficiency in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React, and a collaborative, test‑driven mindset. Hybrid work with offices in Denver and other cities is available.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing distributed systems.
• Experience guiding multiple teams on scaling and refactoring.
• Production‑level code in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test platform components for tax compliance at scale.
• Scale a large Ruby/Rails and TS/React application across teams.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Design, Data Science, and Compliance.
• Improve team productivity with robust services, tooling, and APIs.
• Integrate AI responsibly into development workflows and guardrails.
