Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a seasoned precision engineering professional to develop robust machine systems that provide Corning with a competitive edge. Focus will be on prototype and production-capable machines, collaborating with R&D, engineering and process teams.

The role demands a deep understanding of precision motion, strong CAD skills, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally. MS preferred with 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Precision Engineering (MS preferred) with 15+ years of engineering experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years in precision engineering.
• Strong understanding of precision engineering principles.
• Experience in designing and building precision motion systems.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Interface with R, D, E and M teams to innovate and manufacture new products and machine systems.
• Design and analyze first/next generation products, machines, fixtures, and components for robustness.
• Collaborate with project teams to solve mechanical engineering challenges.
• Develop deep understanding of process requirements to influence equipment design and performance.
• Integrate available technologies and leverage external machine builders and system integrators.
• Utilize internal labs to develop proof-of-concept prototypes.
• Travel 5%–25% primarily within the US; international travel could be required.
