Job summary

Flightwave, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Torrance, CA team. You will lead system-level electrical design for UAV platforms and drive cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The role requires expertise in EMI/EMC, DF/MF DT practices, EVTs, PCB layout, and high-speed buses, with a strong background in HDI PCB and SI/PI design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 11-15 years of relevant industry experience in electronics, embedded systems, or aerospace/UAS.
• In-depth knowledge of HDI PCB technology.
• Ability to define a PCB stackup optimizing EMI/EMC performance and cost.
• Experience with high-speed buses (USB, PCIe, Ethernet) and PI/SI design.
• Proficiency with SPICE-based simulators and SI/PI tools.
• Familiarity with Altium Designer and lab test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Break down requirements into testable system and subsystem specs.
• Estimate E-Hours and task durations for project schedules.
• Conduct trade studies to downselect components and technologies.
• Lead a team and integrate designs into working systems.
• Ensure EMC/EMI compliance and pass EVT procedures.
• Collaborate with internal and contract manufacturers on tests.
• Oversee PCB layout reviews and BOM management.
• Participate in design reviews and sign-offs.
