Job summary

The Hartford in Hartford, CT is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to advance data ingestion, transformation, and delivery for Employee Benefits Sales. You'll work on cloud-based data platforms and collaborate with Underwriting, Product and Enterprise Data teams.

The role emphasizes ownership of Quote and Underwriting pipelines, mentorship, and opportunities for technical leadership. Hybrid work schedule requires 3 days in office (Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; Charlotte, NC).

Qualifications

8+ years of data engineering experience in distributed systems, data warehousing, ETL, and cloud technologies.
Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, Oracle, Informatica Cloud/PowerCenter, and GitHub.
Experience with replication tools (Qlik, Informatica Mass Ingestion, SharePlex, OpenFlow, DMS).
Proficiency in PySpark/Python and AWS services (EMR, S3, Lambda).
Cloud certifications (AWS/GCP) and Snowflake preferred.

Responsibilities

Build end-to-end data pipelines and data products across platforms with ELT approaches.
Influence solution architecture and CI/CD practices.
Own data engineering practices including source control, branching, and issue tracking.
Collaborate with Underwriting, Product, and Enterprise Data teams.
Architect and prototype cloud/hybrid data architectures; stay current with big data trends.
Document technical requirements and provide guidance to users.
