Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Senior Manager of Staff Counsel in New Jersey to oversee defense of lawsuits against GEICO insureds in liability and property damage matters. Lead a team of attorneys, supervise trials, and coordinate subrogation/UM/UIM matters while ensuring compliance and high performance.

The role requires Juris Doctor, bar licensure, and at least 10 years of litigation experience with management responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.

Responsibilities

• Manages a team of attorneys in defense of GEICO insureds in liability and PD cases.
• Interviews and approves job applicants; conducts performance appraisals.
• Initiates salary adjustments, performance ratings, and personnel changes.
• Counsels associates and may represent GEICO insureds in court.
• Researches laws and prepares briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Trains and supervises junior attorneys; ensures CLE compliance.
• Reviews office reports and improves productivity and subrogation results.
• Adheres to GEICO Code of Conduct and attendance at the business location.
