Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach/El Segundo, CA, seeks a Consulting Chief Engineer for the Expendables OU. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, drive R&D from concept to transition, and coordinate across programs and customers to deliver next‑gen weapon systems.

The role requires a Secret clearance or higher, DoD familiarity, and strong engineering leadership across lifecycle phases, with up to 25% travel and onsite work in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 16 years related professional/military experience; OR a Master of Science with 14 years; OR a Ph.D. with 12 years.
• Experience integrating multiple engineering specialties and working across Business Units and with partners.
• Active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with recent background check).
• Ability to obtain SAP and TS clearance within a reasonable time.
• Up to 25% travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team executing R&D projects within the Expendables OU.
• Conceive, develop, demonstrate and transition cutting-edge technologies in expendable air-breathing systems.
• Provide technical direction, requirements definition and cross-project coordination.
• Interface with customer and senior leadership to align on technical goals.
• Ensure programs meet engineering principles, cost and schedule constraints.
