Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) seeks a Senior Staff Chief Engineer for the Expendables OU in Redondo Beach/El Segundo, CA. Lead a multi-disciplinary team to execute R&D projects on expendable air-breathing weapons, from concept to transition, across programs and partnerships.

The role requires a strong systems engineering background, leadership, and the ability to navigate complex technical environments with DoD stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 14 years of related experience OR Master’s with 12 years OR PhD with 8 years.
Experience with expendables, weapons, or high-speed air-breathing systems.
Ability to obtain SAP and TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable time.
Up to 25% travel.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and cross-BU collaboration.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and direction to the Expendables OU projects.
Define and control technical requirements; ensure integration across projects.
Interface with customers and company senior leadership; coordinate with USG stakeholders.
Lead Technical Review Board (TRB) activities and oversee risk/opportunity management.
