Klaviyo’s Boston-based Customer Agent team is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, Applied AI. You will set technical direction for a production agentic system, own end-to-end architecture, and ship with startup pace backed by a mature tech company.

This role is hands-on and principal-caliber, requiring ongoing coding, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and data science to build a scalable, reliable platform.

• Architected, built, scaled, and supported production agentic systems end to end.
• Secured agents against misuse and ensured reliability with growth.
• Set technical and product direction for large product areas.
• Stayed hands-on: continued coding and reviewing architecture decisions.
• Able to unblock multiple teams and drive cross‑team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define technical and product direction for Customer Agent's core platform, from architecture through production.
• Tackle the platform's hardest problems: orchestration, evals, guardrails, memory/context, self-healing and failure handling.
• Write and ship code, review designs, and make calls others can’t make alone.
• Build frameworks that other engineers adopt and mentor via design reviews.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, and GTM leads to shape the roadmap.
