Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Core Automation team. You will architect Agentic AI systems to automate customer support and compliance at scale, building a platform of primitives and interfaces used across domains.

You will lead cross-functional efforts with product, compliance, and operations, guiding production-ready AI solutions and mentoring senior engineers to raise reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience shipping LLM-based or Agentic AI applications to production.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's customer support and compliance automation.
• Architect a reusable platform of primitives, orchestration tools, and interfaces that enable other teams to adopt Agentic AI.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with product, compliance, and operations stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead technical strategy for getting LLM-based applications from prototype to production, including grounding, hallucination reduction, and reliability at scale.
• Mentor engineers across the team on system design, coding standards, and AI/ML best practices.
