Job summary

AKIRA in Chicago is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. You will own fixed asset accounting, general ledger integrity, and bank reconciliations while overseeing accounts payable and supporting month-end close.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 4+ years of accounting experience (retail/e-commerce preferred), and strong ERP experience, preferably NetSuite. Excel proficiency and GAAP knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, with preference for retail/e-commerce.
• Hands-on fixed asset accounting, GL and bank reconciliations, and AP management.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and ability to apply principles to transactions.
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage fixed asset accounting end-to-end, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and CIP tracking.
• Maintain GL integrity with journal entries and reconciliations; investigate variances.
• Perform bank reconciliations across operating, store, and merchant accounts.
• Oversee Accounts Payable: vendor invoices, payments, coding, 1099s; supervise AP staff.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Mentor junior staff in fixed assets, reconciliations, and AP best practices.
