Job summary

Connect Search, LLC in Itasca, IL is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the general ledger and the month-end close for multiple business units. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, perform reconciliations, and provide close-related analysis in partnership with operations and corporate teams.

This role requires 5+ years of GL and close experience, advanced Excel skills, and hands-on ERP experience (D365 Finance & Operations and UKG preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 5+ years of progressive GL, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Extensive ownership of monthly close in multi-site or high-growth org.
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivot tables).
• Experience with ERP systems; D365 and UKG preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute the monthly close process for assigned business units, including close planning, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries such as accruals, payroll, and intercompany activity.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations across multiple accounts and units; investigate reconciling items.
• Review financial statements and schedules; identify unusual activity before finalizing results.
• Analyze and explain significant variances versus budget, prior month, and prior year.
• Reconcile payroll between UKG and D365 and review weekly cash activity.
• Support project accounting, cost allocations, and revenue recognition activities.
• Collaborate with BU leadership, payroll, AP/AR, and corporate teams for timely close.
• Support audits, system enhancements, acquisitions, and local tax compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency, reconciliations, and internal controls.
