Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Stability Engineer to perform reliability and dynamic stability analyses in support of New Service Requests within the PJM Interconnection process.

The role requires hands-on PSSE/PSCAD experience, programming in Python or FORTRAN to automate tasks, and collaboration with PJM staff to develop reinforcements and prepare technical reports for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering is required.
• PSSE with library and user-written models for synchronous and inverter-based generation.
• PSCAD models for HVDC, FACTS, etc.
• Programming in Python and FORTRAN to develop automation scripts.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system and dynamic stability analyses for New Service Requests.
• Evaluate transmission reinforcements to resolve reliability issues.
• Collaborate with Transmission Owner staff to develop required reinforcements.
• Support data reviews for New Service Requests in base case models.
• Create and maintain power flow and dynamic models used for IPA analyses.
• Coordinate with PJM contractors to manage multiple projects.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations of analyses and conclusions.
• Support PJM manuals development and stakeholder communication.
• Identify and develop innovative planning methods.
• Work with System Planning to solve complex engineering problems.
• Represent PJM on industry committees and stakeholder groups.
