Job summary

Early Warning Services LLC is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to enhance reliability, resilience, and scalability of production services. You will partner with software teams to bake reliability into systems from design through deployment and operations.

You will define SLIs/SLOs, drive incident response, and lead cross-team improvements using data-driven analysis, automation, and IaC to reduce toil and improve observability across services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant software or site reliability engineering experience.
• Experience with Python, SQL, Shell, Java, and Spring Boot.
• Experience with distributed systems, production troubleshooting, automation, and observability.
• Experience with AWS and Linux/Unix, and Cloudera Manager.
• Experience with observability tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb, and Grafana.
• Experience with Kafka, HBase, Solr, and Hadoop deployed in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering, automation, and DevOps practices to improve how services are built, tested, deployed, observed, operated, and recovered.
• Use data and rigorous analysis to identify reliability risks and guide technical decisions.
• Define, implement, or improve SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and service-health metrics.
• Enhance observability through metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and instrumentation.
• Drive CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automation, incident response, capacity management, resilience, and operational readiness.
• Identify recurring production issues and translate experience into code and tooling improvements.
• Partner with software engineering teams to embed reliability and performance across lifecycle.
