Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen the reliability, resilience, and observability of production services. You will partner with Software Engineering and other technology teams to ensure reliability throughout the system lifecycle.

The role provides technical leadership across multiple services and drives improvements in CI/CD, observability, and incident response. Hybrid work model with collaboration across teams is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, SRE, or related fields.
• Experience with Python, SQL, Shell, Java, and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, distributed systems, troubleshooting, automation, and observability.
• Experience with public cloud technologies and architectures, preferably AWS, plus Linux/Unix and modern app architectures.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply DevOps and software engineering practices to improve build, test, deployment, observability, and recovery of services.
• Identify reliability risks via data, evidence, and experiments and guide engineering decisions.
• Define and improve SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and service-health metrics.
• Improve observability with metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerts, dashboards, and instrumentation.
• Drive CI/CD, IaC, automation, testing, incident response, capacity management, resilience, and operational readiness.
• Identify recurring production issues and translate experience into code, tooling, or architecture improvements.
• Partner with software teams to embed reliability and performance throughout the lifecycle.
• Participate in or lead incident response, troubleshooting, service restoration, and blameless post-incident reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and escalation support for significant incidents and improve on-call effectiveness.
• Reduce toil through reusable patterns and better engineering practices.
