Job summary

Kong Inc in the United States is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer focused on Managed Gateways. You will lead a team, architect scalable cloud-native systems across AWS, GCP, and Azure, and own end-to-end reliability for enterprise deployments.

You will implement automation, define SLOs/SLIs, and collaborate with Product, Eng, and Customer Success to ensure successful onboarding and production-ready deployments.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Site Reliability Engineer focusing on highly available distributed systems.
• Deep expertise with Kubernetes and multi-cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Strong Golang or similar language for automation.
• Proven CI/CD and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
• In-depth knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
• Experience with managed services or API gateways.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing SRE team for Kong's Managed Gateways.
• Architect and implement scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native systems across clouds.
• Own end-to-end operational lifecycle: monitoring, incident response, post-mortems.
• Drive automation and self-service tooling for deploying and managing API gateways.
• Define and report on SLOs/SLIs to ensure reliability of Managed Gateways.
• Collaborate with Product, Eng, and Customer Success to influence roadmaps.
