Job summary

Apptronik, a US robotics company in Austin, seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to scale the DevOps platform for the Apollo fleet. You will own reliability from kernel to cloud and build systems that are resilient by design.

You will manage Kubernetes on bare metal, VMs and public cloud, implement GitOps, CI/CD, and monitoring with SLIs/SLOs. You will debug production issues and collaborate with robotics software teams to ensure production readiness.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Linux internals and networking.
• Production-grade Kubernetes management experience.
• Strong shell-based debugging with common tools.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Argo CD.
• Programming in Go or Python and building tooling.
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load balancing.
• Experience with observability, SLIs/SLOs, and monitoring.
• Design for failure and root-cause analysis mindset.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage and scale Kubernetes on bare metal, VMs and cloud.
• Build CI/CD infrastructure including runners, caching and registries.
• Design backups, DR drills and multi-site recovery.
• Enable GitOps with progressive rollouts and automated rollback.
• Define SLIs/SLOs and implement monitoring and alerts.
• Debug production issues from Kubernetes to kernel and disk.
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, Ansible, Helm.
• Add security via SSO, RBAC, secrets management, minimal OS.
• Collaborate with robotics software teams on production readiness.
• Plan capacity and cost across on-prem and cloud as fleet grows.
